Passionate Curiosity: Part 2 of the C Infinity Values Story

In Part 1 of the series on C Infinity’s Values, we talked about the two pillars that support how we deliver exceptional value to our clients - Excellence and Evolution. Today we’ll start our focus on the traits that lay the foundation for who we are as a company… traits that make us who we are. We’ll finish our series by discussing the how all of these traits manifest themselves in our day to day relationships with each other and with our clients

Today we focus on Passionate Curiosity.

Albert Einstein once said of himself, “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” It’s hard to contemplate how Einstein - one of the most influential thinkers of the twentieth century - wouldn’t see himself as being particularly talented, but I believe that shows how deeply important curiosity is for discovery and growth.

Why Bother With Passionate Curiosity?:

New tools, changing trends, shifting client needs. One trait keeps us a step ahead: passionate curiosity.

It's not about just questioning everything; it's about wanting to dig deeper, learn more, and not just accept things as they are. It’s also about developing hypothesis, designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, understanding impact, and creating sound decisions. Here's why that matters:

  1. Keeping Up with Change: Tech moves fast. Without curiosity, we'd fall behind. It's as simple as that.

  2. Thinking Outside the Box: Curiosity makes us question the usual way of doing things, leading to fresh, innovative solutions.

  3. Really Getting Clients: We don't just take what clients say at face value. By being curious, we understand their deeper needs, delivering bang-on solutions.

Curiosity in Leadership:

Leading in the digital world isn't just about having answers. It's about asking the right stuff, challenging things, and getting your team to see and think differently.

At C Infinity, curiosity isn't just an individual thing—it's our way of life. It's what makes our teams innovative, quick on their feet, and always in tune with what's coming next.

Making Curiosity a Habit:

So, how do you make sure the whole team is on the curious bandwagon?

  1. Push Learning: Continuous learning is key. Workshops, courses, and just good old team chats about the latest in tech. Reading for purpose. And writing to get a dialogue started about your ideas.

  2. Keep Things Open: Everyone should feel they can ask anything, anytime. No idea is too wild. But that also means we need to be comfortable being asked to join in on other team’s work on a topic that they’re ideating on, or even stepping aside on some topics when there is already work in flight, because…

  3. Execution is Vitaly Important: It’s not enough for everyone to constantly be thinking and being curious. We have to go deep on some things and focus on executing against those ideas. And the only way great ideas turn into reality is by expending energy on executing those ideas. We pride ourselves on not always relying on our gut, especially when our ideas might seem unorthodox or controversial to others. This is why we build decision-making frameworks that celebrate experimentation, data collection, and analysis, so that we can increase confidence in our hypothesis, uncover bias even when it’s uncomfortable, and being open to proving ourselves wrong.

  4. Celebrate Fresh Ideas: Often, new ideas challenge the way we’ve done things in the past, and sometimes that means we’re being critical of how someone else operates. One of the values we’ll discuss later in this series is about kindness, and that is never more important then those times when something we are proposing contradicts someone else - either a fellow Continuum or a client. If we feel passionately enough about our ideas then we must bring them up, but we need to do it collaboratively and in a constructive and kind manner. We want to reward those who think differently, and also reward and celebrate those who contribute and foster the evolution of their own improvement.

An Ecosystem of Curious Minds:

We see C Infinity as a network, a collective of curious thinkers. We encourage a setting where questions are as celebrated as answers. Where 'I don't know' is seen not as an admission of weakness, but as an opportunity for collective growth.

By fostering this ecosystem, we ensure that our solutions are not just about today’s challenges, but tomorrow’s opportunities. When a client comes to us, they're not just tapping into a service; they're diving into a deep reservoir of curiosity, creativity, and innovation.

As we march into the future, armed with technology and knowledge, it's important to remember that these are merely tools. The real power, the real differentiator, lies in our attitude and approach. At C Infinity, we've made our choice clear: to always ask, to always wonder, and to always be passionately curious. For it’s in the journey of discovery that the most profound answers lie.
